'I Know What I'll Do', Common Fires' late-summer 2020 single, is bold and unapologetic. Processed falsetto vocals, relentless gated drums, and layered percussion decorate a spiteful pop song about the power of assumption.  

"I actively give myself permission to make whatever sound I want to make," songwriter Caleb McAlpine explains, "and I am no longer bothered by expectations to do what worked for people before. This song isn't like the prior songs, and it is also not like the future Common Fires songs. I know what I'll do--and now, it can be anything."
