Where prior Common Fires songs may have danced delicately, 'Eight Winds' marches on while snarling: the 60's tinged yacht-rock is a little looser, and a little unhinged. 

The jangly acoustic chords follow a sinister but familiar pattern as they play backdrop to a true "character song"--sung from the perspective of an antagonist with a crooked sense of self-perception. "I am the hairline rays in all I illuminate," he sings boastfully over a raucous chorus of organs and percussion. "The innocents are to blame."
